What kind of courses can SIBS arrange ?General language
courses
For adults from 16 upwards who wish to improve
their everyday language skills.Courses available at all levels, from 1 week to 1 year. The
number of lessons per week range from 15 to 40. Average class size 10 to 12 students.
Business or
professional language courses
Small group intensive courses for more mature
students who need a foreign language for their work and have little time to spare.
Many courses focus on the oral skills required in the most common business situations such
as using the telephone, participating in meetings and negotiations, giving business
presentations and socialising. Others may include written skills required for business,
correspondence, writing reports etc.
Tailor-made programmes for closed groups and individuals can be arranged
Junior courses
Short courses during the Easter and Summer holidays for students
aged 12-18 combining language study with sports, excursions etc.
Full-board host family or residential accommodation is included.
Examination courses
These are offered at many schools.
Holiday courses
Special summer centres are set up by some of the schools and
usually offer a general course of approximately 20 hours per week with excursions and
activities.
Tuition in a teachers
home
This is available in several countries.
Cultural subjects
Art, Art-History, Literature, Cookery. Work Experience can be
combined with language learning at some schools.
Accommodation
Most schools arrange for students to be accommodated with local
families usually on a half-board basis.
Residential accommodation is available at some schools. Most
schools will arrange hotel accommodation if preferred and some can arrange a student
apartment.
Cost
Tuition fees and accommodation charges range from
£150-1000+ per week. A typical standard course of 15-20 hours per week, including
half-board with a family, is likely to cost about £ 200-350 per week dependent upon the
country.
